Texas Restaurant Association to induct Robert and Laurie Lozano into 2026 Hall of Honor

McAllen hospitality leaders recognized for decades of service, leadership and commitment to the Texas restaurant industry

AUSTIN, TX (June 22, 2026) - The Texas Restaurant Association will induct Robert and Laurie Lozano, owners of Food & People Brands in McAllen, into its 2026 Hall of Honor, the association's highest recognition for lifetime contributions to the Texas restaurant industry and the organization.

For more than 40 years, the Lozanos have demonstrated entrepreneurial leadership, business excellence and a steadfast commitment to strengthening the hospitality industry across South Texas. Through Food & People Brands, which has grown to more than 40 restaurant locations across Texas, they have built a respected multi-unit restaurant organization rooted in service, opportunity and community.

Today, F&P Group extends that expertise beyond restaurant operations through its five core areas of focus: franchise management, multi-unit growth, digital media and storytelling, real estate development and community investment.

Longtime supporters of the TRA and active members of the association's Rio Grande Valley chapter, the Lozanos have earned a reputation for investing in people, supporting local businesses and fostering a culture of service. Their leadership and community involvement have helped shape the region's hospitality landscape and continue to influence restaurant operators across Texas.

"The Hall of Honor is reserved for individuals whose impact can be felt across generations of Texas restaurants," Emily Williams Knight, Ed.D., president and CEO of the Texas Restaurant Association, said. “Robert and Laurie have dedicated their careers to building successful businesses, strengthening their community and investing in the people who make our industry thrive. They have also helped lead the industry forward by championing innovation, including the thoughtful use of AI and emerging technology to improve foodservice operations and prepare restaurants for the future.”

The Hall of Honor recognizes industry leaders nominated by their peers for their lasting contributions to Texas restaurants and the Association. Inductees must have at least 15 years of TRA membership, demonstrate superior business ethics and show a sustained commitment to advancing the industry and supporting fellow members.

"Robert and Laurie exemplify the leadership, generosity and dedication that define the Hall of Honor," Tony Abruscato, chief marketing officer of the Texas Restaurant Association, said. "Their impact extends well beyond their own businesses. Through decades of service to the industry and the Rio Grande Valley community, they have helped create opportunities for others and strengthen Texas hospitality."

The Lozanos will be formally recognized during the Texas Restaurant Awards on Sunday, July 12, at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in San Antonio. The ceremony is held in conjunction with the Texas Restaurant Show, presented by Eat Local. Eat Often.
