HB 1195 protects businesses from unexpected tax bills by providing relief dollars from federal, tax-free relief programs like the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) do not count as revenue for the purposes of Texas’ franchise tax.
Throughout the entire COVID-19 pandemic, the TRA was in constant communication with restaurant operators, bringing them the latest and most important resources. Working with our lawmakers, regulators, members, and allied partners, the Texas Restaurant Association has created critical lifelines to support the industry’s recovery from the economic devastation caused by COVID-19.
TRA lead the reopening standard with the governor’s office, ensuring that restaurant employees and guest would follow standard safety protocols to keep everyone safe while dining out.
By launching the TX Restaurant Relief Fund in 2020, TRA & the Foundation raised $3.5M and distributed more than 800 grants to Texas restaurants who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
