Texas produces one of the largest ProStart Invitational competitions in the country. The Texas ProStart Invitational includes two regional competitions and a state final competition with more than 350 high school culinary arts and restaurant management students demonstrating their skills.
Teams compete in either the culinary or restaurant management category at this annual competition each spring. The top six teams in each category at each regional competition advance to the state finals. The first place restaurant management and first place culinary teams from the state finals, advance to the National ProStart Invitational to represent the Lone Star State.
In 2016 the culinary team from the Academy of Culinary Arts & Hospitality at Byron Nelson High school placed third and the New Caney High School management team place FIRST at the National ProStart Invitational. Learn more about the Texas ProStart Invitational at texasprostart.com.
