The World Health Organization has designated food safety as the focus of World Health Day 2015. "Food safety: from farm to plate, make food safe" is the theme of World Health Day 2015. The day focuses on demonstrating the importance of food safety along the whole length of the food chain in a globalized world, from production and transport, to preparation and consumption. The Texas Restaurant Association and the National Restaurant Association are committed to promoting food safety education and training in Texas and nationwide. NRA's ServSafe program is leading the way in educating today's restaurant operators and foodservice professionals across the country in proper food safety and handling. "We are excited to participate in this year's World Health Day as we focus on the strides our industry has made in promoting a safe environment for the 130 million Americans restaurants serve daily,"said David Crownover, ServSafe Product Manager. NRA's ServSafe program continues to be the gold standard in food-safety training, having recently issued its 6 millionth ServSafe certification. The training and certification program is recognized by more federal, state and local jurisdictions than any other food safety certification. The areas of training available in Texas are: ServSafe Food Protection Manager, ServSafe Food Handler, and ServSafe Allergens. TRA partnered with NRA and ServSafe to offer Texas FoodGuard, an online manager food safety training and certification program that is valid anywhere in the state. Texas FoodGuard does not require a proctored exam and is an excellent option for managers who plan to work in Texas.
