TV Interview on Water Waste Measures
Lubbock's Water Advisory Commission is considering a surcharge for waste water containing fats, oils and grease. Chris Berry, Lubbock chapter president, came to the restaurant industry's defense in a TV interview regarding the proposal. He says there are already systems in place that keep most fats, oils and grease from entering the area's water system. If a restaurant or industrial user reaches the water threshold, the proposed surcharge is about 30 percent. If the commission moves forward with the proposal, it would be presented to City Council.
