Paid Sick Leave Update

March 10, 2021

Dear TRA-San Antonio Chapter Members,

The Fourth Court of Appeals has issued a ruling today. In the ruling it states that the City of San Antonio's Paid Safe and Sick Leave provision establishes a minimum wage, which is inconsistent with the Texas Minimum Wage Act (TMWA), and thus violates the Texas Constitution, as affirmed by Justice Patricia O. Alvarez, Fourth Court of Appeals.

Sitting Fourth Court of Appeals Justices:
Justice Patricia O. Alvarez
Justice Irene Rios
Justice Beth Watkins.
