Texas Recovery Grants Reopening For Hospitality & Tourism Businesses On February 1

All eligible businesses are encouraged to apply for the remaining COVID-19 relief funding that was secured by the Texas Restaurant Association and a 10-member last winter.

AUSTIN, TX (January 30, 2023) –
Restaurants and other hospitality and tourism businesses will have another opportunity to apply for a grant of up to $20,000 from the Texas Travel Industry Recovery Program (TTIR) beginning on February 1, 2023. The Texas Restaurant Association (TRA) led a 10-member coalition of hospitality and tourism partners to fund the program with $180 million when the Texas Legislature met last winter. The Economic Development and Tourism Office is administering the grant and has decided to reopen the application portal to all who are eligible until the funding is depleted.

Eligibility rules, required documents, and the online portal that businesses must use to apply for a TTIR grant are located at https://gov.texas.gov/business/page/texas-travel-industry-recovery-grant-program.

“It’s a relief to see that all eligible hospitality and tourism businesses will have another opportunity to apply for the COVID-19 relief funds that we championed along with our partners in the hospitality and tourism industry,” said Emily Williams Knight, Ed.D., President & CEO of the TRA. “This is one of the only recovery programs that the State of Texas created, and it speaks to the fact that our industry is critical and was especially devastated by the pandemic. Although $20,000 will not erase years of struggle, it can make a significant difference to many small businesses, and so we encourage anyone who has not received their maximum award to visit the website, learn about the program, and apply.”

For the final round, TTIR grants will be awarded to eligible applicants on a first come first served basis until the funding is exhausted. And importantly, any business that is already waiting for an awards determination will not lose their spot in line as long as they continue to respond to messages in their portal and comply with grant administrator instructions.
