85th Texas Legislative Session Recap

After 140 fast-paced days, the 85th Texas Legislative Session came to an end on May 29. This session the Texas House and Senate focused on the state budget, property tax reform, immigration, sanctuary cities, gender-neutral bathrooms, business regulations, and a myriad of other social and business issues.

Clear Springs High School teacher Kathleen Roussel presented with TRAEF 2017 Educator Excellence Award

Clear Springs High School District Culinary Arts Instructor and Program Coordinator Kathleen Roussel is the latest recipient of the Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation’s (TRAEF) Educator Excellence Award. Roussel has nearly two decades of experience in the hospitality industry and took over the culinary arts program at Clear Springs High School four years ago.

Scott Plowman to receive Hall of Honor award

Restaurateur Scott Plowman of Wichita Falls is the latest to be inducted into the Texas Restaurant Association’s (TRA) legendary Hall of Honor – the highest award the Association can bestow. The ceremony will take place at the TRA’s 2017 Night of Excellence event on Saturday, July 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the Dallas Omni Hotel, 555 S. Lamar. The event is held in conjunction with the 80th annual TRA Marketplace, the second-largest industry foodservice show in the country.
